CIVIC / GOVERNMENT
Fleming Architects has strong working relationships with the State of Tennessee and with the cities and counties local to the Memphis area. We are committed to bettering our community, and have tangibly done so through projects such as Bartlett Fire Station no. 5 and the Collierville Town Hall.
911 BACKUP FACILITY - ARMOUR CENTER
Emergency Communications Center
This project includes extensive renovation of the 2nd floor to convert the space into a 911 Backup Center for the Memphis Police Department. Radio Dispatch/call taker area consists of a new raised floor system, new generation PSAP consoles, and advanced audio visual and IT. The restoration of the building exterior includes a new roof. Break rooms, quiet rooms, and other employee centered areas were provided to increase productivity and employee retention. An entirely new plumbing, mechanical, and electrical system was designed to support the new call center. A new elevator was added to provide easier access for employees as well as access for ADA.
Streets Ministries desired to establish a presence in the Graham Heights community by providing the neighborhood’s youth with a safe place to gather after school. Fleming Architects partnered with Streets Ministries to build their second location, modeled after the original downtown facility. The new building houses a gymnasium with 2 full size TSSAA regulation size basketball courts, a video game room that only allows family friendly games, a large club room where students can play games and participate in skits that have messages related to real life situations, a computer lab where homework assistance is offered, and Bible study classes where the students can begin and develop their relationship with God. The facility also contains an office suite for staff, a kitchenette where catered lunches are often served to the students, and an outdoor plaza for assemblies.
"Fleming Architects designed the perfect building for serving our youth. The building is functional and durable while still maintaining a beauty and comfort that is inviting to teenagers and adults"
-Reggie Davis, Executive Director - Streets Ministries
SALVATION ARMY - ARC
Adult Rehabilitation Center
The Salvation Army worked with Fleming Architects to create a new in-residence rehabilitation facility for their Adult Rehabilitation program that provides basic necessities and assistance to people with a variety of social afflictions. The new Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) includes dorms and apartments, a chapel, classrooms, dining hall, kitchen, library, and recreational facilities. The project scope also included a new building for The Salvation Army Family Store, which contains a retail store, warehouse space, and maintenance shop. The ARC facility provides a safe, comfortable environment for the residents to participate in work therapy, group therapy, and individual therapy that helps facilitate a successful transition back into the community, and ultimately reunites the residents with their families.
"I imagine that in this business you are all in, each of you often has a chance to point out to family and friends building projects with which you have had some involvement. The difference between those projects and this one we have just completed is that not only can you point to magnificent buildings, but you can in the years to come point to hundreds of men whose lives have been transformed; men who have been reunited with their families and men who have once again become valuable members in their communities. That is the reason why you have been working so hard, and that is what you have accomplished."
-Eric Eliason, Property Manager Salvation Army
